China Center for Energy Economics Research (CCEER) was founded at Xiamen University. Renowned energy economist, Professor Boqiang Lin, the former Principal Economist of Asian Development Bank, is the current Director of CCEER. CCEER is an independent institute for scientific research and postgraduate education.
CCEER's purpose is to advocate energy economics, to train talents and to serve the society. It has three main functions: first, for the study of energy economy theories and policies, second, for masterí»s and doctoral education in energy economics, environmental economics, sustainable development, and third, for energy economy consulting, employee training, company diagnosing and strategies formulating.
The four features of the Center are as follows: a sound structure of staff, who have come from famous universities at home and abroad; an open management system, in which both full-time and part-time teachers can take part; a strong combination of basic theories and applied research, especially in energy economics, environmental and natural resource economics, etc, and a reasonable intersection of different subjects, including economics and law, finance and mathematics, economics and environmentology and so on.
CCEER has three academic institutes and one project-consulting department.
The Institute for Poverty Reduction and Engineering Resettlement,with Dr. Ren Li as its director, specializes in poverty reduction and engineering resettlement theories and practice, and the system reform in China.
The Institute for Economic Modeling and Policy puts emphasis upon economic analysis and risk evaluation for energy project.
The Institute for Environmental Economics pays primary attention to environmental and natural resource economics, and sustainable development.
The Project Consulting Department, with Dr. Zeng Jianwu as its director, specializes in project-related organization and management.
